Digestibility

WHAT IS FOOD DIGESTIBILITY?

It is a criterion that determines the nutritional value of the food since it measures its level of use, that is, the proportion of available nutrients. This depends directly on the formula and the quality of the ingredients it contains.

HOW IS DIGESTIBILITY MEASURED?

Each day the amount of food that the canine consumes is recorded and compared with the amount of excrement, the difference between the two weights is what was used. Measurements must be made on dry matter. It is important to clarify that the classification of pet foods does not depend on government agencies, but it is technically accepted that Super Premium pet foods have a digestibility equal to or greater than 90%.

HOW TO RECOGNIZE A SUPER PREMIUM PET FOOD?

Foods with greater use (digestibility greater than 90%) produce less excrement and the feces are firmer. A highly digestible food can be recognized when the dog’s feces are solid, well-formed, in small amounts and with low frequency, as well as a low level of gases.

A practical and quick test is to feed a dog for a week and you will be able to observe some of the benefits of Super Premium food, from its vitality and appearance, to its feces.
